It’s a new year and the diet roller coaster has already started for many of us. So many people say, “I want to lose weight,” as one of their resolutions.
The first thing you need to do is stop lying to yourself about eating well. If you ate well, you wouldn’t be wanting to lose weight in the first place.
Now that isn’t totally true, as sometimes certain health issues, medications, or hormone imbalances can cause weight gain. But for the most part, you need to eat better.
What does that even mean with all the fad diets out there these days?
Start by cleaning up your dietary intake of boxed, canned, or otherwise processed food. Try to eat food that is as fresh as possible. If you go to a supermarket fill up your cart with fruits and veggies, meats, some nuts, frozen fruits and veggies and stay away from the packaged stuff as much as possible.
As every one of us is different, there is not one diet that will work for us all. So, you will need to make some changes, see if you get results after a couple weeks. If not, that might not be the change that works for you.
However, you didn’t put your weight on overnight so it won’t come off instantly. The process will take time and you have to be okay with it taking time! Any fast weight loss doesn’t stick over time. Be gentle with yourself and the time it takes to move the scale. Even if you don’t see weight loss, you should feel better and have more energy after these dietary changes.
Realize you are not an expert in nutrition and ask for help if you need it to get started. Would you fix your own car, plumbing, computer, or electricity problems? No, you hire an expert.
